I have this same boat! It's a perfect size! Although, I made ( can purchase) a smaller mast so I can step it solo, on anchor, safely... the original mast is 28 ft , my new one is 24 ft. Light weight.... Seemed like his stepping was edited a couple times probably restart, the original mast is heavy.

How many holes did you drill through the dinette table.haha. Did the wife mop the floor with your FACE😂 just one other thing your door the paneling goes up and down.and the other wood is sideways. Don't know for sure u put those swivels at the bottom on top of the deck one for the left and one for the right are designed to pull from the screw holding them in place. Not to push against the screws. The way you have it. it will bend I'm not a sailer yet.But I would have mounted them the other way around. You're boat came out awesome. Only time will tell how good it is with 25mi hr.winds

Are the tanks on the sides or down the middle?

I have never repaired a boat like yours. I was wondering if waterproof Gorilla glue would work or not. Currently, I know how to use Gorilla glue. I am unfamiliar with fiberglass but, would like to learn. I would also like to know if you were filling the water blast? I just need clarification so I can better learn. Keep up the hard work. My husband I have flipped a lot of homes. We are just not familiar with sailboat repairs. We would like to learn. We sail when time, wind and location all workout.

Put sealant on the inside of the mushroom head and on inside of hull- then you don’t get it all over the threads. Also only hand tighten when you fit and give it a further 1/2 turn 24hrs later - lots of videos showing how to fit the trudesign fittings on here.

very nice. I would recommend a small hand plane or even a block plane rather than a construction blade and extreme angle on the table saw. even a 20$ well honed block plane would do .

I've been looking at the nice job you did organizing your lines. I see how you currently have your jib lines run. if you were to run a larger head sail, like a 150% Genoa, you could no longer use the deck organizer and run the lines with your current set up. how would you run the 150? my boat only came w/ a 150 and I'm trying to figure that out.

very nice. although I wish someone would explain how they have the running rigging set up and why. so many variations out there. and for me whom got their first boat , it would really help. ASA doesn't show ppl how to set up a boat.

I really love your videos. I got a FREE small sailboat. Learning a lot. It's my first sailboat in decades. Only 16 feet. I want to restore it with the very best. All the upgrades. Being small its easier to afford. I can have a nice boat for the cost of the hull.

I recently bought my 1st sailboat and cannot raise the mast ( O'Day 17)....Ok if I am understanding the video, what I have to do is 1. make a gin pole system 2. attach the gin pole to base of mast, perpendicular -ways. 3 hooked to the end of the gin pole is a rope-pulley system 4. You pull on the line/ pully rope system and this moves the mast into position... Is this basically it ?

I've been wondering if you could step it manually. All the other videos I've watched show people using cranks and pulleys and stuff. Thanks for doing the video.

Changing the boats safety is a dangerous thing, the boats designer has not placed foam and water ballast for fun. As I saw it the boat has no keel weight as it's very low on the trailer. So the boat relies on form stability for keeping it upright. A keel boat uses weight stability when it comes to large heeling angles. Capsizing without foam will immediately make the boat sink. The boat was designed to sail with water ballast and the desired crew on the edge of the deck for stability to prevent capsizing. Maybe you can call an emergency service in time to rescue you. Maybe not. In bad weather it can be even close to land quite difficult to find persons on the water, the capsized but swimming boat will help finding you. Especially if you have some life saving appliances on board and in your life jackets. And the capsized boat may possibly be uprighted again with the crew on the centreboard or standing on the side of the boat with a halyard in hand. Especially narrow boats like yours are made for this. The fact it's narrow means also there's not a hole lot of form stability. Overall this video might encourage people to do similar stupid things. A naval architect.

Nice work. When did you drop the dagger board? Also, tilt-up or a pantograph motor bracket for the outboard will get the motor out of the water will lessen the drag. Thanks, Bob

Foam was put in because there was a law since the 1980s all boats under a certain lenght had to have what was called upright and level flotation. Rodger McGregor like to push the fact that certain folks would do that float level without going vendor. However all boats had to have that. Its up to you... you are not under any law like the boat company was. You have a family and in the event your boat takes on water they would be a lot safer if the flotation in there. I would what's a flotation back in especially since you have a family
